| Rob
Seidelmann, a champion on and off the water, was born with sailing
in his blood. As a young child Rob had a strong interest in following
his legendary father's, Bob Seidelmann, footsteps with sailboat
racing, sailmaking and boat building. Under his dad's tutelage, Rob
raced his Laser on a near by lake and all along the Jersey Shore.
Growing up, he also crewed for his father where he learned invaluable
skills and tactics. In 1984, The Seidelmann team on a Seidelmann 28'
won the Around Long Island Race and in 1985 they won overall during
Atlantic City Race Week and at CBYRA Race Week. In addition to
yachting with his father, Rob has raced Lasers, 26' PHRF, IMPULSE, MC
SCOW and B-25's with great success.
Rob's love of sailing
allowed him the opportunity to work during summers, have fun and see a
lot of good friends and people. While attending The Peddie School in
Princeton, New Jersey, he was an accomplished athlete and sailor. In
1986, he was a varsity member of the swim team who won the National
Championship. Upon graduation, Rob selected prestigious St. Mary's
College in Maryland where he continued his sailing and academic
endeavors. Rob was a member of the SMCM sailing team and in 1987, led
the team to compete in Odessa, Russia in the Black Sea Cup against
Teddy Turner, Jr. and 11 other U.S.S.R 25' yachts.

Rob earned his BA in
business and went directly into the family boat-building business, Seidelmann
Yachts. They were known for building sailboats and ocean racers in the
1970's and early 1980's. Soon, merging with Pacemaker Yachts, the
company built over 2,000 sailboats and powerboats. Rob joined his
father and started Silver Hawk Boats after Post Yachts bought out
Pacemaker Yachts. Remaining competitive on the race circuit, Rob won
the J-35 Midwinter Championship in 1995. Then in 1999, the family sold
Silver Hawk to Jersey Yachts. Anxious to expand his horizons, Rob
worked for Egg Harbor Yachts as the purchasing manager.
Robs knowledge and
expertise in the marine industry is second to none. In 2009, Rob went
to work for Moorhouse Sailmakers. Skip Moorhouse, a great mentor to
Rob shortly after his father passed away, introduced him to the MC
Scow. Rob competed in several MC regattas and fell in love with the
class. In 2010, Rob won the MC Scow Midwinter's Championship at Lake
Eustis, Florida. In addition, Rob formed a small group called
"Team Red" for anyone who used a Moorhouse Sail and helped
them with speed secrets. While at Moorhouse, Rob expanded the onsite
vending service at regattas during the youth sailing programs along
the Jersey Shore. In 2011, Rob became the General Sales Manager for
Moorhouse MacCausland Sailing shortly after John MacCausland purchased
Moorhouse Sailmakers. Rob's greatest assets are his people skills and
his customer service. At Moorhouse MacCausland Sailing he developed a
full service program, which includes boat sales, pick up/ delivery
from local yacht clubs, indoor winter storage, repair work, and
upgrades on all types of one designs. |
